The Bleistätter Moor/Tiebelmündung reserve lies at the eastern end of the Ossiacher See in the Carinthian Lake District, where the river Tiebel runs into the lake. In 2017 the river was dammed to create a wetland and improve the water quality in the lake by reducing agricultural run-off. Thanks to careful monitoring before and after, the effects of the damming can be seen clearly. Numbers and diversity of water birds and waders have increased, while certain land birds such as Red-backed Shrike have declined. The result is the most important wetland in the province of Carinthia (Kärnten), with over 150 species recorded. Breeding species include Little Bittern, White Stork, Great Egret and Black-crowned Night Heron.  Wintering waterfowl include Goldeneye, Pochard and Ferruginous Duck.

The reserve lies just outside the town of Steindorf am Ossiacher See. It can be reached by car in 25 minutes from Villach, either via the north or the south bank of the lake (Ossiacher See). From Klagenfurt it is about 35 minutes away by car via Feldkirchen. There is a parking area at the south end of the Bleistätter Moor Landesstrasse.

There is a railway station at Steindorf and a bus stop in Alt-Ossiach.

The reserve lies just outside the town of Steindorf am Ossiacher See. It can be reached by car in 25 minutes from Villach, either via the north or the south bank of the lake (Ossiacher See). From Klagenfurt it is about 35 minutes away by car. car via Feldkirchen. There is a parking area at the south end of the  Bleistätter the Bleistätter Moor Landesstrasse. There is a railway station at Steindorf and a bus stop in Alt-Ossiach.

The main path can be accessed from the Dammweg in Steidorf, Steindorf, or from Alt-Ossiach to the south. Alternatively the wetlands can be viewed from the Dammweg in Steindorf, and from the Bleistätter Moor Landesstrasse between Steindorf and Alt-Ossiach.
