About me:
I grew up in a small village surrounded by woodland and a river in Kakheti region, Georgia. One of the important sources of livelihood for my family was natural resources. Probably that is why I obsessed with nature since childhood. However, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and then worked at the bank for several months, but soon then decided to return to nature, learn more, and devote myself to birds, new discoveries and conservation. With this mindset, in 2013 he finished MSc program in Ecology. Since then, I has been actively involved in several bird research and conservation efforts carried out by various governmental and non-governmental organizations in Georgia. Since 2020, I have been a PhD student of Ecology at Ilia State University Georgia, working on the last breeding population of Velvet Scoter (Melanitta fusca) remaining in the Caucasus that I rediscovered in 2015 at Lake Tabatskuri, Georgia. Since then, I have personally led all of research and conservation efforts. I have enjoyed success in achieving my aims to study and conserve the Scoter in Georgia. Despite the short period, I managed to overcome many challenges, and the 6 pairs nesting on the island in 2017 have increased to 39 pairs in 2022. Regarding birdwatching guiding, since 2013, I have been a guide of birdwatching trips. During this time, I contribute to the happy moments of many people, that makes me happy as well.
