Any time of the day is fine for Joe Overstreet landing, but the road itself is of course best in the morning. More Eastern Meadowlarks will be singing, sparrows will be active in the winter, and I've even seen Northern Bobwhite on the sides of the road in the spring and summer.

Give recommendations for making your visit as productive as possible.
This may include for instance:
• best season
• best time of the day
• how much time to spend at the site
• best means of locomotion within the site
• recommended routes / areas within the site
• guiding

An easy drive from the Orlando area and the theme parks. It's about a 45 minute to 1 hour drive south. Get off the turnpike in St Cloud on Canoe Creek Road, make a right onto Old Canoe Creek Road and drive about 20 miles until you see Joe Overstreet and a sign for the Florida Birding trail on the right.

Explain from where and how to get to this site with private and public transport.

There are no fees for this area, but if you want to find a Snail Kite, I highly recommend hiring an airboat at Joe Overstreet landing. The airboat drivers are familiar with the kites' favorite roosting and hunting grounds and will get photographers angled for the best lighting. The kites are used to seeing the boats and are not shy but difficult to photograph from the land.

Provide information on how to enter this site, which may include:
• entry points
• entry permits / entry tickets and fees
• opening hours / opening season
• other restrictions

Note that this section should only contain information on how to ACCESS (= enter) a site. Info on how to REACH a site should be added to "How to get there" section.

Airboat rides on Lake Kissimmee. There are plenty of gators. Camping, hunting, hiking, and birding at nearby Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area.

Add information about other attractions at this site, including
• wildlife (apart from birds)
• sights (natural, cultural, archaeological, etc.)
• activities (e.g. for non-birding companions)

There is a covered pier for photography and bird watching and docks that you can walk out onto if the weather is calm for closer photos and a boat lauch area for private vessels as well. There is a nice restroom and snacks, drinks, and souvenirs for sale as well as sunscreen and bug spray, but honestly the bugs are never too bad out there.

Provide information about what type of facilities are available at
or near this site, including:
• information centers / information points
• catering
• accommodation
• hides and watchtowers
• restrooms / toilets

The only noise pollution comes from the airboats and sometimes people launching boats will scare the birds away from the docks. Usually there are gulls, terns, anhigas, and wading birds roosting on the docks.

Are there any security issues or other annoyances at this site? For
instance, these may include:
• offenses like robbery or theft
• natural hazards
• dangerous or annoying animals or plants (mosquitoes, leaches, thorn bushes, etc.)
• noise pollution
