When visiting during the winter, check out the pond along Prat Rd. Be on the lookout for various species of waterfowl feeding in the ponds including, Northern Shovelers, American Wigeons, Scaups, Mergansers, Gadwall, Ring-necked ducks, as well as various species of shorebirds.

Walking along the boardwalk at the Nature Center, be on the lookout for various species of marsh birds including Clapper Rails, Plovers, Sandpipers, Dowitchers, Herons, Egrets, Woodstorks, Ibis, Bitterns and Yellowlegs.

Don't forget to check out the beach. Likely species include various species of Gulls, Sanderlings, Willets, Terns as well as Pelicans and possibly Loons.
