- The best times to visit this location is during the spring and fall migrations. Timing your visit during or right after rain events gives you a good chance at encountering migrating waterfowl and other waterbirds put down by the weather.

- Spring and winter can be a little slow. The pines near the northern parking area can be one of the better places to find Red-breasted Nuthatches locally.

- Typically, birders visiting this site simply scan the lake from the two parking areas searching for birds on the water. There is a 2.6 mile trail that loops the lake for people interested in a more extended visit to the location.

Give recommendations for making your visit as productive as possible.
This may include for instance:
• best season
• best time of the day
• how much time to spend at the site
• best means of locomotion within the site
• recommended routes / areas within the site
• guiding
