Boundary Bay Regional Park - Dyke

This shallow bay gets extensive mudflats at low tide. It is an important stop on the Pacific Flyway and an excellent place to see ducks, shorebirds and other waterfowl. It is an Important Bird Area and part of the Boundary Bay Wildlife Management Area. Many ducks winter on the bay.

The park is not transit accessible, and it's a long bike ride for most places, so a car is the easiest means of access. Parking is available at Mud Bay Park, 104th Street (at the Delta Heritage Air Park), 72nd Street and 64th Street.

Parking is not allowed at any of the other road accesses, but pedestrians and bikes can freely use them.

Hours (according to Metro Vancouver Parks Website): 7AM - 5PM, year round.

Hunting is allowed during certain time of the year, so there can be loud sounds from the hunters killing waterfowl with firearms, as well as dead birds and shotgun shot falling on/near the dike. Most of this activity takes place on the Western end, near 64th and 72nd.
