Kenya

Hinde's Pied-Babbler (Turdoides hindei)

Hinde's Pied-Babbler (Turdoides hindei) was added by Alain Jacot (2021-07-04 16:33:10)

The top species of this site is Hinde's Babbler - it can be found in thickets along Nzeeu River and in thickets (Lantana camara!) of abandoned plots bordering the river.

Season: good year round. Best at the start of the rainy season (nov/dec) when local birds start breeding and are vocal. The area is excellent for migratory birds (mainly passerines).

Birding strategy: Given that the area is dominated by farms of smallholders it is best to walk in the riverbed of Nzeeu. This is feasible except for a few days during the rainy season. In addition, the area is intermingled by small tracks that can readily be used and where birding is often excellent.

Guides: none available
