The cool broadleaved forest at Wamrong is an excellent area for birding. The star attractions from the area include Blyth's, Temminck's and Satyr Tragopans and many more commoner species. The altitude ranges from 2000m - 3200m. The best time to visit the area is during April and May when the tragopans are breeding. The walk from the road to the Tragopan site will take you approximately 2 hours. 
There are no accommodations available in the area so you will have to prepare for basic camping  with food for a night or two. Arrange your visit with a local travel agent (see "Local guides").

From Paro, Western Bhutan you can take a domestic flight to Yonphula (East Bhutan) from where you can take a three hour drive to Kharung La and continue on a forest logging road (10kms), until the road end and hike uphill for three hours to explore the tragopans sites at 3000m.
