There is a Blue/Fairy/Little Penguin colony in Sydney, the last mainland colony of New South Wales. Sometimes penguins nest under the ferry warth (Manly Wharf 2), the main part of the colony is not accessible. Check media for recent news on the fate of the colony (it has not been doing well). If there are still birds under the wharf, approach the volunteers in the evening for a small chance to see the penguins when they are returning from the sea.
