The most ecologically diverse in the world Since Hendrikus Albertus Lorentz a Holland’s explorer who pass through this area in 1909, finally the park known as Lorentz national park and declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1999.
This park is located near town of Wamena – west Papua province; Indonesia has a lot of very rare species of plants and animals. Enrich with equatorial snowy high mountains surrounding it and a many beautiful beaches as amazing fence.
Lorentz National Park is a one of the largest national parks in Southeast Asia and has very natural scenery is absolutely stunning.
This national park has an area of 25 156 km², is an outstanding example of the biodiversity of Papua island that known as the 2nd biggest island in the world after Greenland. Lorentz is the only nature reserve in the Asia-Pacific region to contain a full altitudinal array of ecosystems ranging through marine areas, mangroves, montane rainforest and lowland , tidal and freshwater swamp forest , alpine tundra, and amazing equatorial glaciers. At 4884 meters, snowy Puncak Jaya (formerly Carsten’s pyramid) is the tallest summit between the Himalayas and the Andes.
Besides has a tidal swamp forests and freshwater lowland and montane forests, a total of 34 vegetation types including swamp forest, riverside forests, sago and peat forests, coral sand beaches, rain forest land flat / slope, rain forest on the hill, heath forest, mountain forests, lichens and also grassland plant species in the park include Nipah (nypa fruticans ), mangrove (rhizophora apiculata), pandan ( pandanus julianettii ), colocasia esculenta, avicennia marina, nauclea coadunata and podocarpus pilgeri.
