Fort Amsterdam is a little peninsula, harboring the remains of colonial Fort Amsterdam.

the place has a rich history, it is from here that the Spanish occupiers fired the canonball that took of Peter Stuyvesand's leg.

It is also the most important on island breeding spot for our Brown Pelican.

The property is situated on the premises of Divi Hotel, who at present make an effort at protecting the site.

• are most sought-after by birdwatchers at this site
• and are relatively easy to see at this site (year-round or seasonally)

Drive into Divci Hotel and ask rthe guard permission to come inside to be able to visit the fort. 

From the hotel it is a short 15 minute walk up to the fort. The pelican watching site is a small trail the the right after passing the ruins of the fort.

Permission to enter is needed, otherwise you parking just in front of the entrance and walk inside, that is always permitted

It is a very interesting site historically, and the viewsn of great bay and the harbor are fantastic
