Bakkakrókur is a small sandy beach close to low cliffs. It is best known for high numbers of migrating waders in May and early June. Smaller numbers of waders after mid June. Common waders there include Red Knots, Turnstones, Sanderlings, Dunlins, Purple Sandpipers, Redshanks, Ringed Plovers and Black-tailed Godwits. This place is also good for several species of ducks and gulls.
