The estuary is best visited when the tide is coming in, between 5h and 2h before high tide. The viewing points include the EcoPod, with nearby parking spots, allowing a panoramic view of the estuary. There is a hide called Estuary Centre. It is interesting to watch garden birds (feeders) and roosting shorebirds. Another good spot is the tip of West Sands at high tide for seabirds (scaup, scoter) and terns, as well as Cobble Shore and the point halfway between Guardbridge and St Andrews at rising tide or even receding tide.
