This is the most important birding area close to Athens. A breeding site for world threatened Ferruginous Duck and an excellent migration area for spring and autumn migrants. Lots of overwintering waterfoul too.

Olympic Rowing Center opens from sunrise to sunset, every day. Free walking of cycling access (no cars of motorbikes allowed). Free entry.

Rich in reptiles, dragonflies and wild flowers. Spring is excellent for wild orchids in the surrounding hills.

The area of Marathon has major archeological importance (Battle of Marathon, Ramnous archeological site, Museum of Marathon). It is also the start of the Authentic Marathon race, every year
