Porkkala headland has a large recreation area in a narrow peninsula in southern coast of Finland in Kirkkunummi. It is 35 km towards SW from Helsinki. It is located in Nylandia (N) biogeographic province. It is mainly rocky coast with lots of old forest.

Four muncipalities have recreation and nature conservation areas in Porkkala headlands.

Porkkala headland is a very good spot to follow bird migration in Finland. In a very busy migration day you can see ever tens of thousands birds (mainly geese) going to or coming from south. It is also very good place to spot many of sea bird species nesting in Finland. When sea is open there is usually some flocks of long-tailed ducks, great cormorants and common eiders. White-tailed eagles are also very often present.
