Timing and strategy

The best season is winter, especially from October to early March. In the winter season, birders can spend all day from 7:00 to 15:00 for watching and photogaphy.

Birders should spend at least one week in this area, but it realy depends on how lucky you are because diffrent migrant birds come in diffrent days.

Motorbike or priavte car are the best means of locomotion. Walking along road or within small area also can be a good choice.

The best zone to watching bird is in Linh Ung Pagoda, and then along main road in Son Tra Mountain, and third one is along beach (Nguyen Tat Thanh and Man Thai).

Guides: You can contact bird guides in Vietnam because they all know this area well.

How to get there

Son Tra is in Da Nang city, just 30-minutes travelling from the central city to here by taxi/ grab car. If you stay in Hoi An city, it will take around 1 hour to get here.

Automatic motorbike is prohibited in Son Tra Mountain, so you should hire a grab car/ private car to get in.

Other attractions

Besides birds, you will have a great chance to see one of the most corlorful primate that is Red-shanked douc langur. The landscape is very beautiful. After birding trip in the mountain and back to the city to enjoy seasfoods and other tourist sites in the city.

Do not worry about hotel because Da Nang is one of three biggest city in Vietnam and is popular tourism city in the world. There are five star resorts, various options for hotels/ or event shared rooms. The price is not hight and it is easy to book a room by online platforms.

Very safe and friendly.

In the winter season, there are a lot of thunder, tropical storms, cyclones, and rains in many days
