Costa Rica

Macaw Lodge is located between the humid lowland rainforest and the high humidity pre-montane forest, and is surrounded by expanses of rural roads, pastures, mature and secondary forests, and organic farming plots. These bioclimatic, ecological, and landscape conditions make it possible for an abundance of birds to live in the Central Pacific, with 360 migratory and resident species recorded so far along the 9 km / 6 mi of the reserve trail system.

The sanctuary is located in the heart of the Scarlet Macaw Biological Corridor, where nearby birding hotspots include the Carara National Park (over 400 bird species) and the Tárcoles River.
