Because you are looking west, you should plan on going before late afternoon so you are not looking into the setting sun.  The light is best in the morning.  Because the last quarter mile of the road is sandy, it may not be accessible after a heavy snow.  The best seasons are Spring through Fall when the ponds are not frozen.

Give recommendations for making your visit as productive as possible.
This may include for instance:
• best season
• best time of the day
• how much time to spend at the site
• best means of locomotion within the site
• recommended routes / areas within the site
