A range of waterfowl can be seen throughout the year. Ruff and other shorebirds are regularly seen on passage in May, August and September. Rarer species such as Great Snipe and Jack Snipe are sometimes seen on migration.

One might spend anything from half an hour to an hour and a half at the tower ("Lintutorni"), preferably earlier in the day when passerines and raptors are more active. At low tide an area of mud (managed as a 'scrape') is exposed which attracts waders.

For slightly different views and photographic opportunities it is possible to walk around a little at the foot of the tower, though this risks disturbing birds. It is also worth stopping along the forest trail to look for passerines such as Common Rosefinch, and on the boardwalk to look for warblers, Whinchats, Bearded Reedlings and Reed Buntings.

In addition to the path leading to the main observation tower there is a trail running all around Raisio Bay, which would two require around two hours for the full circuit. The trail, called Uikkupolku (the 'Grebe Trail') is signposted from Route 40 about 300m to the east of the car park. Alternatively, one can walk the 'Grebe Trail' clockwise by following the track to the west beyond the junction with the boardwalk leading to the tower hide.

Give recommendations for making your visit as productive as possible.
This may include for instance:
• best season
• best time of the day
• how much time to spend at the site
• best means of locomotion within the site
• recommended routes / areas within the site
• guiding

The site can be reached from Route 40, Nesteentie which is a continuation of motorway E18, between Raisio and Naantali. There is a small and inconspicuous parking area just off the road on the north side. This 'Lintutorni' (tower hide) is not signposted and the site is easily missed. One needs to drive slowly westwards on Route 40/E18 and turn right into the small parking area immediately after the junction with Telakkantie (which has signposts to Pernon Telakka; there is a '60 kph' sign shortly before the turnoff and another one right at the turnoff). A cycle track runs parallel to this road on the north side, providing access by bicycle from Raisio.

Explain from where and how to get to this site with private and public transport.

The short walk and panoramic view from the tower are pleasant even for non-birders, and are indeed popular with casual visitors.

The largest shopping mall in southwest Finland, Mylly ("The Mill") is only 8 minutes' drive away at Hauninen outside Raisio, also on route E18. Some companions can happily be left here while birding takes place at Raisio Bay.

Add information about other attractions at this site, including
• wildlife (apart from birds)
• sights (natural, cultural, archaeological, etc.)
• activities (e.g. for non-birding companions)
