The Kaltbrunner Riet ist a fairly big reedland in the Linth plain. 

Species in summer include: Tufted duck, Purple Heron, Little Bittern, White Stork, Eurasian Curlew,  Peregrine, Kestrel, Black and Red Kite, Water Rail, Cuckoo, Turtle Dove, Green Woodpecker, Whinchat, Stonechat, Nightingale, Grasshopper Warbler, Savi's Warbler, Great Reed Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Eurasian Reed Warbler, Icterine Warbler, Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Red-backed Shrike, Bearded Reedling, Golden Oriole, Reed Bunting

Species during migration time include: Eurasian Wigeon, Nothern Shoveler, Garganey, Eurasian Teal, Gadwall, Night Heron, Little Egret, Cattle Egret (spring only), Black Stork, Marsh Harrier, European Hobby, Spotted Crake, Little Crake, Ruff, Greenshank, Wood & Green Sandpiper, Common Snipe, Jacksnipe, Northern Lapwing, Whimbrel (often with the Eurasian Curlews), Lesser Black-backed Gull, Common Kingfisher, Hoopoe, many Swallows, Pipits, Wagtails, Warblers, Bluethroat, Flycatchers, Penduline Tit, Ortolan Bunting

Wintertime: Usually boring. Great Grey Shrike and some Ducks and Finches. If you're lucky you'll find a Long-eared Owl.
